What to wear to Spring Racing 2016?

Spring Racing is in our midst, and the most popular races in Melbourne are just around the corner. This is one of my favourite times of year – I just wish we had warmer weather than we currently do.
Spring Racing is where sport becomes fashion and fashion becomes a sport.
Every year we see socialites, fashionistas and racing enthusiasts flood the grandstand and marquees all dressed to the nines! 😉

Myer’s Fashions on the field

FOTF is an event that has celebrated the art and sophistication of fashion at Flemington races for Oak’s Day, Derby Day and Melbourne Cup.
The event is held by retail giant Myer, and for the first time this year, it will be held at The Park.
Winners for each day will be selected based on originality, appropriateness for the event’s dress code, accessories, rendition of current fashion trends, and immaculate presentation.
Some fashion trends that are quite prevalent this season are metallics on both headwear and accents on outfits, various jewel tones for accessories, ruffles and bows.
As for hats and fascinators – boat hats and crowns are very popular this year.
If you are entering FOTF or simply need ideas for outfits, here are a few to get your creativity going.

What to wear to Derby Day?

Black and white day! Who doesn’t look good in black and white? My guilty go to if you haven’t already noticed.
Picking an outfit for this day is difficult because there are so many amazing options!
I am absolutely loving DIIDA right now. If you haven’t heard of DIIDA, jump on their website asap. They are an exclusive new boutique on Chapel Street, with quality garments that make you feel sophisticated and looking 100%.
I personally rather not have 50 other ladies in the same dress as me – don’t you agree? DIIDA has a limited number of sizes per design, which makes their range more exclusive.
Here are some outfit ideas for Derby Day.

What to wear to Melbourne Cup?

Melbourne Cup is my favourite out of the three FOTF race days. The energy and vibe of this day makes it. The dress code for Melbourne Cup is a bit more bold in terms of colours and shapes than the other days.
Bright heavy colours such as orange, reds, bright and navy blues and bright yellow are big this season. Wear something that is more than your average dress. Wear something with an edgy feature, or a structure that is daring, yet sophisticated.
Here are a few I’m considering…

What to wear to Oak’s Day?

Oak’s Day is also known as Ladies Day. This is the gorgeous day where florals, pastels and Spring colours are at their finest.
Typically on this day the calibre of outfits are at their peak. It is the final day of Myer’s Fashion on the Field and the national finalist is announced.
For those who are lucky enough to attend (and not have to work), soak up the glamour! And remember, if you are bringing a date, the official button hole flower of this day is a pink rose. You can get them at the entrance of Flemington.
That’s enough about him – now here are some ideas for you.

Ladies, always remember that fashion is the root of human expression and a modern art. Have fun styling and I will see you at the races! If you see me, come say hi.
