Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival is upon us, and the biggest races are just around the corner. For me, and I’m sure many of you, I am very excited to see all the contestants for this year’s Fashion on the Field.
If you are yet to decide what to wear to these fashion events, here are some things to keep in mind as you style your outfits.
DERBY DAY STYLE GUIDE
AAMI Victoria Derby Day, is a spring racing favourite. This race is traditionally known for being the day where everyone dresses in black and white attire. This season, your options are endless! MELBOURNE CUP DAY STYLE GUIDE
And finally, the highlight event of the entire racing season, Emirates Melbourne Cup Day.
The trends that will be popular amongst attendees will be intricate lace, mid-calf hemlines, full skirts with matching tops, sleeves, and pastels.
The following designers have stunning spring collections that will suit this race perfectly:
The finisher of every spring carnival outfit is not something to only give 2 min thought to. It needs to compliment the outfit, or be a statement piece if your sporting the minimalist look.
In Australia, we have the luxury of having the leaders in Millinery fashion here. Surprisingly this is not something Europe or the US have the front foot on.
If you are going to wear a big hat, be sure to style your hair back in a very simple fashion.
Otherwise, a nice blow wave will go nicely with a dainty fascinator.
Leather and lace fascinators are really big this season and also hats with veils.
Lauder Taylor Millinery
‘s 2015 Spring collection, titled L’obscurite, has many black and white pieces perfect for Spring’s colour pallet. In her range, Designer and Milliner Chantelle Westlake, has incorporated leather, wire and silk which goes hand in hand with this seasons trends. Check out her range, and find the unique piece to compliment your outfit.
Here are some of my favourites:
“My Secret Garden”
