Another year, another amazing Spring Fashion week in Melbourne. This is definitely my favourite time of year. There is nothing like getting ready for all the fun Spring events. And seeing what our favourite Australian designers have in store for us this glorious season is like an early Christmas!
Normally when I see a couple of gorgeous outfits on the runway, within moments I know what I’m wearing to each Spring carnival, each party, and each event in the coming months. However, this year there were too many jaw droppers to pick from, it was a lot harder to choose favourites when I loved everything! Why can’t there be 3 Derby days haha 😛
This year I attended Contemporary and Spring Carnival runways at Town Hall, as well as the David Jones and Rokk Ebony x Collins Place Runways. Each one was thoroughly enjoyable in their own right.
In terms of colours that will be coming through this Spring and Summer – there were a lot of earthy colours amongst the collections; from orange, to yellow, to bright red. These colours were expressed either through an Aztec inspired contemporary style or structured and minimal; letting the bright colours be the hero feature. Other colours that will prominent, in Spring especially is pastel pink and blue. These colours will come through in various varieties of lace – and there will be a great deal of fringing and tassels. Other styles that are continuing through this season is off-the-shoulder, culottes and midi length dresses and skirts.
Here are some of my SS17 runway favourites this year.
